Photography Workshop: Flowers & Insects

09 June 2018, 10:00 - 16:00 ( Add to calendar )

The June sunshine brings out the colourful beauty of the grasslands and meadows. Take this opportunity to photograph nature at its finest. We will be focusing specifically on the best techniques to capture the delicate flowers in bloom as well as the multitude of insects flourishing at Bay Pond.

Any camera with the ability to change the shutter and aperture settings will be suitable for this course, however a DSLR with interchangeable lenses or Bridge camera will have more potential, particularly for close-up photography. Do bring any lenses that you have with you so that we can discuss their suitability for various subjects.

If you have one, bring along a tripod, as light levels can be quite low, particularly in woodland. Make sure you have a fully charged battery and plenty of space on your memory card.

Adrian Davies is a wildlife and natural history photographer, author and highly experienced lecturer. He was one of the first people in the UK to use a digital camera over 20 years ago (the mighty Kodak DCS100!) and has been an advocate of digital imaging ever since. Adrian has been photographing all aspects of wildlife and natural history for over 30 years, both in the UK and abroad. Increasingly, he is covering environmental issues such as the effects of global warming, and the effect of alien species in the British countryside. He is also currently looking at how plants and other natural history subjects appear in ultraviolet light, and is in the latter stages of writing a book on Digital Ultraviolet and Infrared Photography His pictures have appeared in hundreds of books and magazines.

Many of his images are held by three picture agencies, Nature Picture Library, Visuals Unlimited and Alamy.com, (see Links) but images can also be purchased directly from him as well.
