The Dormice population is in decline and they have become extinct in some areas of the UK. The changes in farming practices, loss of hedgerows and the fragmentation of woodland have all contributed to this crisis.
Dave Williams is a recognised Dormouse expert in Surrey. His vast knowledge and years of experience has helped to raise awareness of their plight and educate future generations on how best to protect them. Dave will discuss his experiences in the study and management of these creatures, the correct placement of dormouse boxes and how he surveys & studies them. After a brief break he will then guide you around the Nower Wood Educational Nature Reserve identifying the location of the dormouse boxes and you will check the contents. You may be lucky enough to find one on the day.
